About Us
Spout began in 1989 as a quarterly literary journal. The success of the journal allowed us to expand. In 1997, Spout Press published our first book, A Definitive Guide to the Twin Cities. This has been followed by several other successful single author books and anthologies. Through all of our endeavors, we strive to follow Our Mission: To publish and promote the finest in contemporary experimental writing — mentoring young writers and bringing new and/or under-appreciated voices to the attention of a larger audience. This is accomplished through the publishing of books and the production of live events within the community. Both strive to combine artistic genres to facilitate dialogue between the film, music, visual art and literary communities creating synergy that expands possibilities for both artists and audiences.
